Strong Competitiveness Amid Declining Birth Rates: Feng Chia University Tops Private University Rankings for Ten Consecutive Years in Cheers Magazine's University Performance Survey

Cheers Magazine recently announced the results of the 2025 "University Presidents' Performance Evaluation Survey," and Feng Chia University once again ranked third nationwide, maintaining its position as the top private university. This marks the tenth consecutive year that Feng Chia University has been ranked first among comprehensive private universities, a significant achievement. Despite the challenges of declining birth rates and increasing competition in higher education, Feng Chia University has continued to refine its educational strategies, enhance the quality of education, and demonstrate strong competitiveness and forward-looking vision, earning unanimous recognition from university presidents across Taiwan.

Cheers Magazine has been conducting this survey since 2015, presenting university transformation and growth from the perspective of university presidents. This year, 135 university presidents (excluding junior colleges) across Taiwan were invited to participate, with a response rate of 85.2%. The survey not only focuses on the overall performance of universities but also highlights future educational trends, identifying the most competitive universities.

In the face of the challenges posed by declining birth rates, Feng Chia University has continued to invest in education, demonstrating foresight and confidence in the future. Recently, the university completed its largest construction project in history, Virtuosi Hall, designed by internationally renowned architect Kengo Kuma. This building is Taiwan's first campus landscape architecture and the only space in the country specifically designed for student learning, providing an immersive world-class architectural experience.

Virtuosi Hall will become the base for cultivating literacy at Feng Chia University, allowing freshmen to enter this open learning space that inspires cross-disciplinary thinking through classic general education and freshman integrated courses.

In 2014, Feng Chia University became the first in Taiwan to establish the International School of Technology and Management, deepening international cooperation for over a decade. The university has established solid partnerships with many of the world's top 100 universities, including The University of Queensland, Monash University, and UNSW Sydney, all ranked among the top 40 globally. These partnerships provide students with unprecedented opportunities for overseas study, helping them step onto the international stage. President Vey Wang stated, "Our goal is for 25% of our students to have international participation experience." In addition to providing diverse opportunities, the university encourages students to actively expand their international perspectives through study abroad, internships, competitions, and workshops, cultivating global competitiveness.

自2017年起,逢甲每年積極鼓勵並資助學生參與歐洲創新學院競賽。2024年共選派18名學生前往葡萄牙參與,其中7位同學參與6個團隊的創業項目,榮獲Top Team佳績。

Since 2017, Feng Chia University has actively encouraged and funded students to participate in the European Innovation Academy competition. In 2024, 18 students were selected to participate in Portugal, with seven students participating in six entrepreneurial projects, winning the Top Team award.

In response to the advent of the AI era, Feng Chia University has been actively planning and promoting the application of AI technology and talent cultivation through cross-disciplinary integration within various colleges. Whether it is the field of information and electrical engineering that deeply uses AI modeling, the engineering department that fully applies AI tools, or the business management department that emphasizes big data analysis, as well as the Chinese and foreign language departments that possess literacy, writing, and reading skills, all have undergone curriculum transformation under the trend of AI popularization, comprehensively enhancing students' competitiveness.

Feng Chia University has pioneered the smart construction industry by integrating AI computing technology, robot simulation, and control technology, reshaping the future of Taiwan's construction industry.

Cheers Magazine also mentioned in its report that Feng Chia University has won the championship and runner-up for five consecutive years. During Bing-Jean Lee's tenure as president, he actively promoted innovative teaching, leading the university to become the first in Taiwan to join the CDIO international cooperation organization promoted by top international universities such as MIT. The innovative education model of Conceive, Design, Implement, and Operate has cultivated talents capable of participating in the upgrading and transformation of social industries, laying the foundation for industry acclaim and continuing influence to this day.
