2025.03.27

Distinguished Professor Jyh-Horng Chou of the Department of Electrical Engineering has received multiple accolades! Following last year's award of the "IEEE Fellow," one of the highest honors in the global electrical and electronic engineering field, he has been appointed as Chair Professor at Feng Chia University this semester. Recently, he added another honor by being awarded the title of "Fellow" by the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association (AAIA), recognizing his outstanding achievements in the field of AI applications, particularly in Intelligent IoT. To date, AAIA has selected 2,068 fellows globally, with only 31 scholars from Taiwan, highlighting his esteemed position in the international academic community. Receiving two prestigious honors at the beginning of 2025 is truly well-deserved.

Chair Professor Chou has long been dedicated to various types of antenna design, electromagnetic wave applications, and RFID systems. He has demonstrated exceptional expertise in innovative applications of 5G/WiFi antennas and electromagnetic simulation technology, with rich research achievements and international reputation. Since joining Feng Chia University's Department of Electrical Engineering in 2007, he has served as Associate Professor, Professor, Department Chair, and Chair Professor. He also established and led the Antennas and Microwave Circuits Innovation Research Center and served as the Director of the Industrial Ph.D. Program of Internet of Things, actively promoting industry-academia cooperation and cross-disciplinary integration.

In terms of academic performance, Chair Professor Chou has been continuously listed in the "World's Top 2% Scientists" rankings published by Stanford University and Elsevier. In 2024, he was also selected as a Distinguished Lecturer for the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society (AP-S) from 2024 to 2026, and ranked among the top 15 globally in the fields of "Antennas" and "Smartphones" on ScholarGPS.

Chair Professor Chou is also active in international academic journal editorial work, having served as Associate Editor for journals such as IEEE Access, IEEE AWPL, and IEEE Journal of RFID. He has received the Outstanding Reviewer Award from IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation for eight consecutive years and was awarded the Outstanding Associate Editor Award by IEEE AWPL in 2018, setting a benchmark for the academic community in Taiwan.

To date, Professor Chou has published over 200 SCI journal papers and has served as chair, keynote speaker, and invited speaker at numerous international conferences, including IEEE SOLI 2018 and ISAP 2024, demonstrating his high visibility in the international academic community.

Regarding his appointment as Chair Professor and the AAIA Fellow honor, Professor Chou expressed that this is a recognition of his long-term research and an encouragement and responsibility. He will continue to invest in research and innovation in the fields of 5G/6G, WiFi-7, and satellite communication antennas, hoping to contribute more to Taiwan's global communication and artificial intelligence fields.

The Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association (AAIA) is a multinational, non-profit academic organization with members from top international universities such as Stanford University, MIT, Oxford University, Peking University, and Tsinghua University, as well as global technology giants like Google, Microsoft, IBM, Alibaba, and Huawei. The fellowship qualification review is rigorous, symbolizing the outstanding achievements and profound academic contributions of researchers in the field.
