“Riding the Wind Forward!” Feng Chia University Celebrates Its 64th Anniversary with First-Ever Ceremony at Shengri Hall in Gongshan Building
On the morning of November 15, Feng Chia University held its 64th Anniversary Celebration, marking the first time the ceremony was hosted at the newly completed Shengri Hall in the Gongshan Building. This year’s theme, “Cheng” (Multiply), interprets 64 through “8×8,” combining the dual imagery of “8” and “∞” to symbolize the multiplier effect of Feng Chia University and the Gongshan Building.
Chairperson Cheng-Shu Kao remarked that the completion of Gongshan Building is not merely the inauguration of a structure but a concrete manifestation of Feng Chia’s educational mission. He emphasized that the unit of measurement for education is not years but centuries, and only by centering passion and ideals can we continue to move forward in an era of rapid change.
President Wei Wang highlighted that across all four academic systems—including master’s and doctoral programs, which are generally challenging for most universities to recruit—the overall new student enrollment rate reached 98.66%, setting a new record. Additionally, 35 Feng Chia scholars were listed among the world’s top 2% scientists, a significant increase from last year. President Wang noted that the Gongshan Building, completed in February, has become a key venue for student showcases, professional lectures, and interdisciplinary exchanges, reflecting the true essence of a university.

Alumni Association President Ming-He Li, representing 240,000 Feng Chia alumni, extended heartfelt blessings and encouraged alumni to carry forward the momentum of progress, enabling Feng Chia to shine in education, research, and social service.
During the ceremony, President Wang introduced Academician Geng-Yi Liang, recipient of Taiwan’s highest honor in scientific research—the 2025 Presidential Science Award—making him the first Feng Chia Spring Rain Lecture Professor to receive this distinction. In his speech, Academician Liang shared his original aspiration to return to Taiwan to promote education, as well as the challenges and reflections encountered in long-term research. He emphasized that from nomination to selection, he participated under the title of “Feng Chia University Spring Rain Lecture,” and expressed his joy in sharing this honor with the entire faculty and student body on the stage of Feng Chia’s 64th Anniversary Celebration.
